Blogging on the go

Ahhh..

Ideally, I would prefer writing new entries on my netbook in my room, with minimal distraction. I know, gedik kan?

But,  having this new gadget without fully utilizing the available apps, it can be a wasting, no?

When an iPhone4 reached the doorstep

I`ve been dreaming about having a new iPhone since a few months back, especially when I communicated with Ju.Zie. The convenience of getting connected everywhere really intrigued me, but I told myself to wait at least until iPhone 5 is out. That was the intial plan.....

In the mean time, I did some survey on the interesting packages offered in the market. The utmost requirement that I set earlier was to remain my current mobile number.Until one day, when I learnt that the iPhone can be sent via delivery, I could hardly see any reason to delay the purchase!(Thanks to you Ju.Z :p) .

I went to Celcom Kuantan branch, and after a quick queue, brief explanation from the officer, the payment blah blah, finally the deal was sealed!  All I had to do was to wait by my door for the arrival of the phone. Ok, I mean, not literally ;p.

And here it is. The waiting lasted only over a week! Internet and social apps on the go - I like!

Parc Soveign Hotel, Singapore

We started looking for flight tickets to Singapore when it was getting close to the date of departure. Hence, every arrangement was done with limited options available. The option mentioned was the lodging. Budget hotel in here? Nah! That was certainly out of question. Using their public loo was already an issue, let alone sharing our sleeping shelter with strangers around us. No.Way.

After browsing through booking.com, finally Zaira managed to secure a room for us. The hotel is adressed at Albert St, Bugis, and we were really confident to hop on the  MRT and headed to Bugis station.

It turned out that the hunting  for the hotel was not as easy as we thought. Parc Sovereign Hotel is a new hotel in town, thus not many local people were familiar with the hotel. The taxi drivers were not helpful either, for that matter. We had no choice other than asking people around until finally *phew* we were told that the hotel is  just a few walks further from Bugis St.

We arrived excitedly  at the hotel at 1pm, and to our dissapointment, the check in hour only started at 3pm. Crap!!

The room was quite small as compared to the price that we had to pay. But in a small country like Singapore,  we don`t expect a luxury space room even tho with the same rate,  we can get a room in a  4- star hotel back in Malaysia.

The room has common facilities like other hotels provide and one of them was a flat screen telly, which did not working throughout our stay.Nevermind.

There were many times I went to hotels which certainly provide houskeeping service. But this time around when we reached our room, the exhaustion from the long walk was felt like lessen upon seeing our room clean and tidy.

Weekend in Singapore

It was a fine Friday in July, Zaira and I were on our way to the airport for travelling to our next destination, Singapore. We took early flight to maximize our activities on Friday. The journey took only 1hour to arrive, and we could hardly doze off even though we started the day pretty early.

Upon our arrival in Changi Airport Singapore, we rushed to MRT station inside the airport complex which connects the airport to the whole country.

The convenient part about travelling in Singapore is that we can rely on the usage of  MRT throughout our trip. We did try to get a ride in a taxi while finding the location of the hotel, but it turned out that we were left pissed off on the busy road- it`s either they ignored us when we hailed them, or even when they stopped, they have no idea where the hotel was!!Grrr...

Nevertheless, provided with efficient MRT like here and pieces of maps, we were in a good shape.

The midday in Singapore was very hot, that we were dehydrated the moment we wandered around the city to find the hotel. After settled down, we headed to the Bugis MRT station, which is situated close to the area of busy street shops at Bugis Street.

Bugis street is one of the famous attractions in Singapore. And yes, the best place to get the souvenirs-except that it was not the right time to do the shopping as we have list of places to visit before looking for the mementos. *grin*

It was past 1 in the afternoon when we reached Vivocity shopping complex to hop on the express ride to Sentosa Island.  We took half-day pass and from there, we were required to choose four activities or parks to enter.

prayer room is located at beach station

beach activities and get sun-tanned at Siloso beach

We started our second day as early as 7 in the morning to go to Arabic street for a snap at their prominent mosque, Masjid Sultan.

Next, we went back to Bugis MRT station to go to the highlight of the attactions, Universal Studio Singapore. We reached the entrance of USS when it was not even opened for public yet. There were so many people crammed in front of the USS globe to pose, and of course, we were one of them!

We had had our brunch at Mel`s Drive In. The information about the halal restaurants are available in the USS pamplet, so you don’t have to be worry of getting starved when you are in USS all day.Hihi

USS comprises of several theme parks, and each of them has its own attractions, rides and merchandise shops.

Street dance at New York street.(Psst, one of the dancers was freaking hunky that I was
dying to take picture with him)

Egypt ancient city

                                                                       The Lost World

Donkey Live performance

I figured that the attractions, rides and  live shows in USS have similar patterns with ones in other theme park that we visited previously, Hongkong Disneyland. Eventually it lies to us to allow childish side of us to take charge while being in this theme park in order to enjoy the entertainment to the fullest.

Shoppingwise, yes we have a thing about shopping prior to the trip and in fact this trip was triggered due to the massive sales in Singapore. I was in a hunting for a new pair of jeans, so after several trips to fitting rooms in a few jeans stores, I finally settled with one from GAP. And to my surprise, the sale price was still pricier than the one sold in Malaysia. What a lost! *sigh*

on our way to hotel, the road was still bz at that hour

I was informed that the best time to visit the statue of Singapore, Merlion is at night. We used the remaining energy to walk to the MRT station on our last night and headed to Marina Bay station. We reached there after nine, that the light show was about to over. Thankfully, we managed to snap this duo pose before the light shows ended.

We took our flight home on Sunday morning. All plans were accomplished- at least for a short trip like this. Despite the modern and civilized country, I was a bit dissapointed with the lacking of hospitality amongst its society. Every single citizen I approached for an information looked less friendly and least warm.  *sigh*.

Whatever it is, we had a wonderful trip with a blast.Yippi~

Home sweet home~

PRM Teambuilding 2011 @Tekam Resort

Financial year 2011/12 showed up. The departmental teambuilding was approved! Yay!~ Of course we were over the moon, we have been waiting for the approval since last year. The best part of being one of the committee members was that the fact that we could decide the venue of which the team building was going to be held. And it was Felda Residence Tekam, Temerloh on 23 until 25th June 2011.

We arrived in Tekam after 4 hours of journey and had had our lunch with scrumptious chicken rice. There are various types of accommodations provided by the resort such as hostel and chalet. The committee members opted for the air-conditioned chalet which could accommodate 3 persons in each chalet.

As always, there was a simple welcoming ceremony held in Dewan Mawar to brief the participants on the activities which were laid out throughout the trip.

Later in the evening, we were split into two groups for so-called extreme and leisure activities respectively which were flying fox and canoeing. As for me, I chose the flying fox. The last time I participated in flying fox activity was during the orientation weeks of my campus life.

That was yeaaaars ago, y`know. But the feeling was still the same while climbing the monkey ladder to go to the platform-thrilled! On the night session, we had a brief gathering for the management games.

                                                       off I went. woohhooo!~
On the next day we had explorace . Our tasks were to find the answer for the given hints at several check points around the huge resort area in the mid-sunny-day! In order to get the hint from the man at the check point, of course we were instructed to do things like sing a song, resolve teka- teki and whatnot. Haiyo!

And in the mean time, we were also required to write a story by using words with a given initial letter. We were assigned with the letter of J, so the story went
Joe Jambul jatuh jongkang jongkeng jadi juling ,jadi jenab jerkah
and it went on and on.

Somehow it was funny despite how silly it sounded. The next activity in the afternoon was to build a raft from scratch and eventually made a quality check by riding on it across the lake nearby.

                                                           gathering the materials

together as one raft! =p

My team made it through! Too bad the moment was not captured. *sobs*. The exhaustion was paid off when we had scrumptious dishes during barbeque dinner in the night. Yums!

The food selections were so tempting that I was having a hard time to stop myself from munching all night.Haha!

On the last day, it was sunny and bright, we resumed our next and last activity to explore the cave which is situated not far away from the resort, Gua Sanding. The sceneries inside the cave are terrific, and we didn’t waste much time to snap the pictures as much as we could.

The atmosphere in Tekam resort itself is so calm and peaceful and that even we can hear the birds were chirping in the early morning when we wake up. Plus, participating in those activities which I would not do every day, were enough to bring my mind away from stress of work and mental turmoil.

Eminem- I Need A Doctor

I am not a big fan of Eminem and his songs.(Read : big fan). Only recently when I heard this song over and over again along the trip to Kuantan, I was hooked to the female voice, Skylar Grey which is featured in this song.

Of all many hip hop songs I heard, I would say this is the first time I came across this kinda meaningful lyrics  (except for the F words, of course) which has something to do with the loyalty in a friendship, betrayal and question of self-faith when one hits a rock bottom.

An emotional storyline which is well-laid by a fella who went through ups and downs in a life. Nothing fancy and yet I find it amusing piece of artwork and worth to be shared here.

Oh, I am not here to review a piece of hip hop song, tho. Hahah

And for this particular song, I am certainly a big fan of Eminem!

Eminem - I Need A Doctor

[Skylar Grey]
I'm about to lose my mind
You've been gone for so long
I'm running out of time
I need a doctor
Call me a doctor
I need a doctor, doctor
To bring me back to life

[Eminem]
I told the world, one day I would pay it back.
Say it on tape and lay it, record it, so that one day I could play it back.
But I don't even know if I believe it when I'm saying that.
Doubt startin' to creep in, everyday it's just so grey and black.
Hope, I just need a ray of that
'Cause no one sees my vision
When I play it for 'em, they just say it's whack.
But they don't know what dope is.
And I don't know if I was awake or asleep when I wrote this.
All I know is you came to me when I was at my lowest.
You picked me up, breathed new life in me. I owe my life to you.
But for the life of me, I don't see why you don't see like I do.
But it just dawned on me; you lost a son. Demon's fightin' you, it's dark.
Let me turn on the lights and brighten me and enlighten you.
I don't think you realize what you mean to me, not the slightest clue.
'Cause me and you, were like a crew. I was like your sidekick.
You gon' either wanna fight when I get off this f-cking mic,
Or you gon' hug me. But I'm out of options, there's nothing else I can do cause...

[Skylar Grey]
I'm about to lose my mind
You've been gone for so long
I'm running out of time
I need a doctor
Call me a doctor
I need a doctor, doctor
To bring me back to life

[Eminem]
It hurts when I see you struggle.
You come to me with ideas.
You say they're just pieces, so I'm puzzled.
'Cause the sh-t I hear is crazy,
But you're either getting lazy, or you don't believe in you no more.
Seems like your own opinions, not one you can form.
Can't make a decision, you keep questioning yourself,
Second guessing, and it's almost like your begging for my help.
Like, I'm YOUR leader.
You're supposed to f-cking be MY mentor.
I can endure no more!
I demand you remember who you are!

It was YOU, who believed in me,
When everyone was telling you, don't sign me.
Everyone at the f-cking label, lets tell the truth.
You risked your career for me, I know it as well as you.
Nobody wanted to f-ck with the white boy...
Dre, I'm crying in this booth.
You saved my life, now maybe it's my time to save yours.
But I can never repay you, what you did for me is way more.
But I ain't giving up faith, and you ain't giving up on me.
Get up Dre! I'm dying, I need you, come back for f-ck's sake cause

[Skylar Grey]
I'm about to lose my mind
You've been gone for so long
I'm running out of time
I need a doctor
Call me a doctor
I need a doctor, doctor
To bring me back to life
Bring me back to life

[Dr Dre]
It literally feels like a lifetime ago
But I still remember the sh-t like it was just yesterday though
You walked in, yellow jump suit
Whole room, cracked jokes
Once you got inside the booth, told you, like smoke
Went through friends, some of them I put on
But they just left, they said they was riding to the death
But where the f-ck are they now
Now that I need them, I don't see none of them
All I see is Slim
F-ck all you fairweather friends
All I need is him
F-cking backstabbers
When the chips were down, you just laughed at us
Now you bout to feel the f-cking wrath of aftermath, faggots
You gon' see us in our lab jackets and ask where the f-ck we been?
You can kiss my indecisive ass crack maggots and the crackers ass
Little cracker jack beat making wack math,
Backwards producers, I'm back bastards
One more CD and then I'm packing up my bags and as I leave
And I guarantee they'll scream, Dre don't leave us like that man cause...

[Skylar Grey]
Im about to lose my mind
You've been gone for so long
I'm running out of time
I need a doctor
Call me a doctor
I need a doctor, doctor
To bring me back to life
Bring me back to life
Bring me back to life

Wardrobe Revamp

I still remember those days when I just got my job and started living in a rental house with my then-housemates. Back then, there were so many things to buy to fulfill our daily needs, be it the transport to work, new clothes to work, electrical appliances in the house and the list goes on. To make it worse, my first salary ran out overnight in order to serve those needs simultaneously.
For my bedroom, the furniture purchased was very minimal. Those included a cheap wardrobe to accommodate my few pieces of clothes and a foam mattress and a bed.
I`ve been meaning to change the wardrobe for ages, especially when the new clothes started to fill up this precious yet fragile closet. But I was too lazy to move my bum to the furniture shop. Day by day, the closet was getting worse as it torn apart which enough to make Ju.Zie shook her head pitifully every time she came over and saw it. Hahah.

Being in my own room is always  a good therapy, thus it was about time for a make-over for  a better view in my room. And finally..I bought myself a super thick mattress, ( my energy restoring rate is very poor when I wake up every morning, I blame it to the foam mattress)  and a new wardrobe!

Pheww! Now I can safely say that my precious shirts and clothes are well kept and safe from dirt. Hihihi..

Marian Keyes-Rachel's Holiday

The story is about 27-year-old Rachel Walsh who lived in New York and took drug excessively to the extent of jeopardizing her life. She always thought that she took the drug for recreational but people around her absolutely didn’t see it that way.

Due to the incident, her parents resolved to send her to the rehabilitation center, Cloister. The funny bit was that she has fantasized that she would meet superstars and got to enjoy an exotic getaway in the center, which led her to agree with her parents` decision.

Her sweet dream turned out a nightmare from day one she stepped into the center, and ultimately when she learnt in a hard way about how people saw her bad behaviors- and worse-through her loved ones` point of view.
The interesting part about this book is that it doesn’t only serve the reader with a fictional story. There are many underlying messages and how our mind works when it comes to dealing with conflict in oneself. Somehow or other, it lies to us on how to maneuver the challenges in life  to be a positive outcome and stronger person.
