The housewarming and a new arrival in the family

16 December 2011.

Finally, my bachelor pad is ready to live in! Just so you know, I will be moving out from the current rental house into my new house, real soon. So, as advised by Mother ,I decided to organize a little housewarming festive before I completely relocate my stuff into the house.

The majlis was started off with solat hajat and followed by tahlil. My relatives and friends who live nearby were invited.

Mother and aunties and cousin cum the kitchen fellas. :P

Siblings and other cousins were grounded in my room while the tahlil was ongoing outside :P

I snapped a few pictures in the early of the majlis. Only a few snaps, then the camera was out of my hand when the guests kept coming. Being the host, let`s forget about eating leisurely, let alone snapping the pictures.

On the other hand, at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, KT ,my sister safely gave birth to this little man, Muiz. My first nephew! Yippi~

Things went really really well when the day was over. Alhamdulillah.

PMO Health Week 2011

Date : 12, 13&14 December

It is month of December, and at office, it is low season whereby many staff were on leave, and subsequently has slightly affected the  productivity of the staff who were still working. Hehe. Alasan~

So an event was organized at my office, which was PMO Health Week.  Numbers of activities were lined-up through out the week such as blood donation, reflexology, Masterchef competion, Physical Fitness Hunt Competition and many more.

There were not so many participations received from the staff. Thus, being the remaining working staff at the end of the year,  I participated the activities both on volunterary basis and on paksarela basis.

Blood donation is the simplest activity that we could grab a few minutes to lie on the bed during working hour. C`mon, we don`t stand oppportunity like this everyday, do we? Haha!

Sampling paper to determine one's type of blood.

The nurse patiently waited for us until the last drop of blood donated. Cool!~

For Physical Fitness Hunt competition, every department has to be represented by one team. Unfortunately, the lady participants representing my department were not enough as per requirement. Therefore, I was required to fill in the  blank. :p

During the race, we were forced to racing up and down the three-storey building in order to find the check points. And at every check point, each of us was required to do specific physical test  such as jumping star, bridging, push-up and many more. Me? I did step up. I managed to do 50 steps in 1 minute. Tiresome!

And oh yes, we named our team as ,errr.,,. Boy Power! Yeaa rite~

Indeed it was good to be part of the team even though I only participated the team on  ad hoc basis. I felt healthier despite of not winnning anything, but only a face towel as the partipation token. =)

Ambition of a lazy cum lousy gardener

Almost one year back, I wrote a story about my new passion about gardening in this entry.

And there was no update about the progress of the plants afterwards.  Initially, being the so-called new gardener, I changed its ugly container to a much prettier vase.

For a start, I watered it, almost everyday, and gradually it became once in two days, aanndd once in a week, and worse,I let it grew on its own, until finally the soil dried out and- hmm, the plants died. What a lousy gardener I was.

I thought I had had enough with gardening thing. I am simply talentless in growing plants! However, when Ju Zie gave me her vase of pokok bunga kertas before her departure, I guess I can start over again the gardening. *wink*

I will be moving out to my new house soon. So now I am in a thorough effort of taking care this plant with the hope that some flowers will flourish out of it before it is relocated to the new house.

Plus, I bought the fertilizers to increase the growth rate, and  this daisy flower plant. I like the vibrant colors despite my initial intention of not dealing with flower plants. Ohh.. let see what will happen to this creature after a weeks. ah-ha~

Well at least I can ascertain myself that I am still a worthy plant care-taker. Haha!

Array of Alex Potter's collections

After buying the movie tickets of Ombak Rindu,I went for a stroll at Popular book store to look for any new arrival of books.

Alexander Potter's book, Who's New Pussycat was listed as one of the best-selling items.

I asked the sales assistance if the book is still available. When she showed me the array of Potter's book, I was awestruck!!

I mean they are so freaking cute and the author is one of my favourite!

Oh well, for now it is just nice to see but not to have. Because I know, I wouldn't have time to read them all nowadays. Gotta save it until next month or so.

Memento for a bestfriend

It`s been quite some time that I haven`t  done any cross-stich work.  But I started rummaging my sewing box when I was bored reading the books. So when the best friend of mine, Ju Z and family are leaving to further the study abroad, I found it just the right time to start again the new project.

When I came across this cute sample while flipping through the cross-stitch magazine, I knew it was the cutest thing to do for the best friend. And the project begins!

After 5 days of chasing the clock, it is ready!

Putting it in the frame, I was ready to give it to the said bestest friend when she came over to Paka.

We managed to spend some time together for the last time (perhaps) at my house. As always, we snapped a few pictures of me with her lil man. And yes, we had  meaningful moments, even it was just for a few hours.=)

Accu Chek- Monitoring the blood sugar for diabetic at home

My father was diagnosed as diabetic when he went through the medical check-up last year. And from the session onward, his monthly routine is seeing the doctor for monthly check-up and more often than not, he returned home with bunch of diabetes medication packages. But, but, but, being my father,a typical folk with sooooo little attention to medicine intake, he only popped the diabetes pills whenever he please. Aiyoo~

You know, chronic deseases like these- diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease - are lifelong diseases. The medications used in diabetes are only to control the blood sugar, but not to cure the disease itself. Thus, taking the medication matters seriously is very important in ensuring the blood sugar is not rising abnormally high and worsen the complications to the patients.

It was very very very rare that my father fell sick until recently when he was having a long fever. He lost his appetite and subsequently many kilos until his face has become visibily shrunk. Yes he did suffer a few infections on his body before, but not to the certain of being very very very week and pale like this time. Oh man, I was so scared and worried that all bad things crossed my mind. After many attempts from me, siblings and relatives to bring him to hospital- which is after almost one month of being sick on his bed, he finally  agreed to be cured in the hospital.

Ok, back to the diabetes story,  only after he was admitted that he couldn`t escape from taking the diabetes medication daily, day and night. And the result was, his blood sugar decreased after proper medication is taken.

When my father was discharged from the ward, I felt the need of having a glucose monitoring device so that my father can monitor his blood sugar level at home. It was when Ziela told me that the glucose level monitoring device is available in the market, I was relief.

It was so many glucose meter brands available in the market. I chose  Accu-Chek Advantage, for I have seen it in a clinic that we have visited previously to check my father`s glucose level. One reason of diabetes treatment is to keep the blood glucose levels near the normal range of 3-6 mml/L before meals and under 8mml/L at two hours after eating-ideally.

The device comes with the test strips which will last until 25 tests and a lancing device which holds the lancet inside it to prick the skin of the fingertip. And for this brand, it comes with handy pouch which stores all these items.

From bottom clockwise : lancing device, test strip, pouch, glucose meter

The blood sugar level is typically determined by pricking the edge of the  fingertip with the lancing device and applying the blood on a test strip and insert it in a glucose meter, which reads the value.

Note from nurse : it is important to carefully prick at the edge of the fingertip, so that it will not accidently affect the nerve which is located at the center of the the fingertip. Diabetic has a high risk of nerve complication.

And the meter is reading the glucose level

And the glucose level was,

PNB Darby Park, KL

I was invited for a 5-day training. Yes it was longer than usual, thus I reserved for myself a room at PNB Darby Park, which is quite near to the training venue.

PNB Darby Park is a service apartment which is very suitable for those travellers who wish to bring their family along while on a business trip.

                                                                        the reception

There are various rates available which are affordable and worthy, considering the location and conveniences that they offer. But I have to remind here that you don`t expect super satisfactory room when you pay less for a cheapest rate. Experience talks. :p

This was not the first time that I stayed here. To be on the safe side for a comfortable long stay, I opted for the club floor. During previous stay, I was given an apartment with 2 rooms, huuuge one. I don`t know what went wrong, the apartment I stayed this time around only has one room, but the room rate was same! Ah, nevermind. I was all alone anyway. Pfftt..

One good thing about staying in service apartment is that I could tapau food and heat it up back at room. How cool is that. The small kitchen, (or shall I call it pantry?) provides the basic utilities and kitchenware for cooking meals. Ok, don't get me wrong, that does not include things like beras, sayur and whatnot. Definitely the guests have to bring them on their own. Hehe.

                                                  takeaway macaroni fresh from pan!

One priviledge to the club floor guests is that  we are entitled to enjoy cocktail at Executive Lounge, Level 39 from 5pm to 7pm.

It happened that Zaira was also on her business trip in KL. Thus I brought her to spend the tea time while having girls chat in a cozy ambience. Waaarhhh!~

Scrumptious kuih melayu, cakes and fruits are served every evening.  Welll, at least it will be enough for a light dinner,no? There were so little guests seen around. Perhaps they didn`t aware about it I guess. But once they learned about the priviledge, surely it will be nice spot for a relaxing evening.

Bedtime story about me and handbags

Technically, I am not a huge fan of handbags. While I use it daily to work, I didn`t make an interest about collecting handbags as many ladies do. I saw friends of mine were crazy about LV and other luxury brands, I wasn`t as intrigued about it.

Until recently when I saw my housmate with her new denim LV handbag fresh from Paris, ok- that was the point when my eyes were wide open. I started to probe her about the handbag, where she bought, how much it costs, can I ask her parents to buy me the same handbag on their next trip -(of course on my own pocket money :p), and the interogation went on and on until she said that she was planning to go to Paris quite soon.

C`mon, it's LV and it's chic look, unlike LV typical boring leather big shoulder handbag. How can I stay incurious? Hehe

                                                                                                             source : Internet

The conversation ended there, but not my mind and the desire for new handbag. Crazy! On the next day, I started browsing the internet to see the handbag from LV website and shifted to Coach website. It was happened that one of my collegues was preparing for a business trip to US in a week time, even sooner. That was the  best chance. A handbag model was identified and the deal was made with the officemate.

Three weeks of waiting with patient, finally I got the package fresh from US with much cheaper price than one in Malaysia. What a good saving~ Oh wait, the same model was not there in Coach KLCC when I went eyeing for it.

Anndd tadaaa!~ Safely opened and ready to be brought to KL for the next trip. Hihi.

It was not even after 24 hours I got my new handbag, something came up. And out of the blue, I was given another Coach handbag from a dear friend. Truly unexpected. Rejeki~

Ok, this is too much for non-handbag lover. It seems like I gotta freeze any purchase until years to come. Hihi.
